Tooth Restoration in Riverside

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Tooth Restoration in Riverside At Greenway Dental Excellence in Riverside, we use a variety of techniques to restore damaged teeth.  Most Riverside dental clients are familiar with fillings. Traditional fillings are also called ‘direct restorations‘ because they are applied to the tooth, shaped and polished in one visit.

Another type of filling is called an ‘indirect restorations‘ and is fabricated in a California dental lab. There are two types: inlays and onlays.

When a tooth needs more extensive dental restoration, a crown is often used. At Greenway Dental Excellence in Riverside, we create strong, natural-looking crowns from a variety of materials.

What if the tooth is damaged beyond repair? There are a number of functional replacements for missing teeth. Dentures are not the only option.

Call 951.786.0600 to learn about the restoration options available. We have been improving smiles for Riverside, Upland and Lake Elsinore patients since 1961.

Whether the damage is caused by decay, injury, bite problems, or natural wear; Kurt Greenway DDS will choose the best dental treatment plan for your tooth restoration needs. Greenway Dental Excellence is conveniently located at 3679 Arlington Ave in Riverside. We provide quality dental care for Riverside, Lake Elsinore and Upland families.

Affordable Riverside Cosmetic Dentistry

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Affordable Riverside Cosmetic Dentistry Will your California dental insurance cover Riverside cosmetic dental procedures? Many Los Angles dentistry clients assume their dental insurance won’t cover any cosmetic dental procedures. This is probably true for tooth bleaching in Lake Elsinore or first time dental bonding. However, many California dental insurance plans and dental supplemental plans cover orthodontia and any treatment needed to repair damage from an injury. Medical insurance and worker’s compensation plans may also cover injury treatment.

Some Upland dental insurance plans cover replacement porcelain veneers in certain circumstances. Check with your carrier for benefit specifics if you need replacement veneers due to deterioration. We can then discuss dental treatment options such as replacement veneers or porcelain crowns. When the work is completed, we may be able to help you submit your dental claim form if your plan requires one.

If you are in need of any kind of dental treatment; from a cleaning to major restorative work, come in to Greenway Dental Excellence on 3679 Arlington Ave in Riverside. You can meet our friendly team, undergo a thorough evaluation and discuss financing options. Even if you do not have California dental insurance, let’s talk. Top quality Riverside dental treatment is a wise investment and may be more affordable than you think.

Doctor Kurt Greenway of Greenway Dental Excellence has been proudly serving Riverside and Upland residents since 1961. Greenway Dental Excellence is a network dental provider for many California dental insurance plans.

What you should know when considering Dental Implants

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Dental implant restorations replace missing oral structures and are permanent tooth replacements. Implants hold a crown, bridge or denture in place and allow for natural eating, speaking and cosmetic function. There are several key components to understand when considering dental implants.

1.  The Dental Prosthetics:

a.  Dental implant which are made from titanium alloys and will be replacing and acting like your original tooth root. Dentists like Dr. Kurt Greenway from Greenway Dental Excellence, Riverside, California surgically place implants in the jaw bone, where the implant will integrate with the jaw bone after a certain period of time.

b.  Abutment Preparation

c.  Hybrid Denture with abutments and screws

d.  Types of Implant Restorations placed on top of dental implant for function:

i.  Porcelain to non-precious with metal occlusal

ii.  Porcelain to white high Noble with metal occlusal

iii.  Porcelain to yellow high Noble

iv.  Porcelain to Zirconia

2.  Diagnosis & Treatment Planning:

a.  Medical Contraindications – Dr. Greenway will consult with you regarding contraindication which is a specific situation in which a drug, procedure or surgery should or should not be used because it may be harmful to you.

b.  Pre-Surgical Planning – Dr. Greenway and his staff will provide you with pre-surgery instructions that will help you prepare for the implant procedure as well as outpatient procedures to help you return to your home safely.

3.  Surgical:

a.  The actual surgery occurs in several stages and involves several procedures.   Implant surgery varies from patient to patient and depends on the type of implant and condition of your jawbone.

b.  Most adults are candidates for the procedure; dental implant surgery is expensive and often not covered by insurance.  Greenway Dental Excellence of Riverside, Lake Elsinore and Upland can help you with these costs.

4.  Bone Quality, width and density:

a.  Dr. Greenway will first evaluate your jaw bone characteristics with the implant characteristics, and second, to assess the combinations of these characteristics as to the influence on the success rate of the dental implant(s) with the identification of prognostic factors for implant survival and failure.

b.  Panoramic radiographs will be taken to measure alveolar bone levels. If it is determined that bone is required before the implant restoration can proceed, Dr. Greenway will select osteoinductive bone allograft to replace and re-grow jaw bone.

5.  Laboratory:

a.  A dental laboratory is used for the actual dental implant prosthetic. Greenway Dental Excellence uses Iverson Dental Laboratories of Riverside, California for all their dental implant restorations.  See item 1 above for type of implant restoration available. Dr. Greenway will help you select the dental implant restoration that is right for you.  If you feel you need dental implant restorations, or not sure, at Greenway Dental Excellence in Riverside, Lake Elsinore or Upland, we will help you determine if this procedure is required to maintain your good dental health.

If you do, there is no better time than right now to visit one of our offices. Call Greenway Dental Excellence today for your free consultation & Panoramic X-Rays! 1.800.615.4989

Sedation Dentistry in Riverside

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Sedation Dentistry in Riverside Picture the following scenario: You are stretched out in a chair at your Lake Elsinore dentist’s office holding a remote as you try to tune into your favorite California radio station. An assistant clips a paper bib around your neck. Someone switches on a bright overhead light and you see latex-gloved hands moving toward your open mouth. You close your eyes.

As you read this, does your heart begin racing? Are your palms sweaty?

If so, you may be a good candidate for sedation dentistry. Oral sedation benefits nervous dental patients in Riverside every day. Moderate sedation is used for all types of Los Angles dental procedures such as root canals, dental implants, and wisdom teeth removal. If you are considering extensive restorative or cosmetic dental work, conscious sedation may allow your Fountain Valley dentist to complete multiple procedures in a single visit.

Don’t let fear prevent you from getting the dental treatment you need. Schedule a visit with Kurt Greenway to learn about conscious sedation dentistry.
